Movies for the Apocalypse
Movies for the Apocalypse was a film festival curated and organised by Agatha Scaggiante and Gisela Mulwinda, hosted at the SET Vault in Woolwich.
We selected films for a post-apocalyptic time capsule, to show people of the future what our lives were like before the (maybe) impending Big Collapse.
Our aim was to capture the strange nostalgia-for-now that is haunting life these days, opening up the conversation of what is strange or unique about the world we are living in. Brought into focus by considering the reality of its ending.
All the chosen films were low/no-budget productions, and entry requirements were minimal to make the experience accessible. Filmmakers simply emailed or DM'd us their submissions in any format.
Our final programme was proudly varied, with both award-winning filmmakers and people who had never publicly shown their work before.
The festival played over a span of three nights and was sold out with an attendance of over 150 people.
